Although there is an ecosystem capable of producing 12 thousand tons of fish per year in the Gambella region, only 41.7 percent or less than five thousand tons of fish are being produced.
There are more than 113 species of fish in the region’s water resources, and 15 of them are in high demand in the market.
According to a study conducted by the state government and the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the six districts named Gog, Abobo, Gambella, Iteng, Kankan and Burbe have fish resources.
Yesterday, three fish processing and marketing centers were inaugurated in Gambella town, Abobo district and Itang special district.
Its also stated that more than five thousand young men and women will have job opportunities in the project.
